The ASAM OpenSCENARIO 2.0 project is aimed at taking the concepts specified in the OpenSCENARIO concept document (releasing after Mar 12) and continue and develop the next generation of the OpenSCENARIO standard: OpenSCENARIO 2.0. A rough estimate is that the development of such a standard can be achieved within a year, aiming at release in Q2 of 2021.

This project is intended to further develop the ASAM standard OpenSCENARIO 1.0. OpenSCENARIO provides the data model, the specification and examples for the description of dynamic content in driving simulation. It is used in driving simulation, traffic simulation, virtual development, test and validation of driving assistance functions, automated and autonomous driving. The goals of the proposed project incorporate the completion of tasks that have not been fulfilled for V1.0 and to provide support for users and implementers. It is foreseen to migrate future versions of ASAM OpenSCENARIO 1.0 to OpenSCENARIO V2.0 to a common major release.

The Open Simulation Interface (OSI) is a generic interface for the environmental perception of automated driving functions in virtual scenarios. Its goal is to allow a user to connect any sensor with a standardized interface to any automated driving function and to any driving simulator tooling. Four work packages were identified: Physical sensor modelling (i.e. a better ground truth), Traffic participants & roadside infrastructure, OSI performance and packaging (e.g. improvements for real time), and Harmonization with other OpenX standards. ASAM OSI will be developed opensource.
