Currently there is no harmonized way to store image, radar, lidar and sensor data in ASAM MDF4.x. This complicates the development of tools that want to access them. It also means that the different analysis tools are not interoperable due to the different ways of writing the data. The aim of this project is to clarify how sensor raw data and stream meta data can be handled in ASAM MDF 4.x and its associated standards.

This project intends to implement some change requests by the VDA project group "SIL Standardization" to support more complex test environments, which are typically found in the SIL environment. Additionally, the extensions and modifications requested by the concept project "ASAM XIL for Service Oriented Communication" shall be realized. Due to some major modifications, the new version 3.0.0 will be incompatible to the current version 2.2.0.

ASAM iLinkRT is a High-Speed Automation access protocol for MC-Servers. ASAM iLinkRT V3.0.0. will be released in Nov 2020. Due to the large number of new, supported capabilities and the fact that this protocol is positioned as the successor of ASAP 3, it is expected to be widely used in the market. Any problems, difficulties in understanding and possible ambiguities that may arise shall be solved within this maintenance project. Additional cross tests shall be carried out with real products from participating companies to identify bugs and change requests.

The ASAM OpenSCENARIO 2.0 project is aimed at taking the concepts specified in the OpenSCENARIO concept document (releasing after Mar 12) and continue and develop the next generation of the OpenSCENARIO standard: OpenSCENARIO 2.0. A rough estimate is that the development of such a standard can be achieved within a year, aiming at release in Q2 of 2021.

The Open Simulation Interface (OSI) is a generic interface for the environmental perception of automated driving functions in virtual scenarios. Its goal is to allow a user to connect any sensor with a standardized interface to any automated driving function and to any driving simulator tooling. Four work packages were identified: Physical sensor modelling (i.e. a better ground truth), Traffic participants & roadside infrastructure, OSI performance and packaging (e.g. improvements for real time), and Harmonization with other OpenX standards. ASAM OSI will be developed opensource.
