In Jul 2022, ASAM expects the release of ASAM SOVD, a new Standard that defines an API for diagnosing and communicating with software-based vehicles. Due to the massive extent of new features in ASAM SOVD, not all requirements and use cases could be implemented in the first version of the Standard. Therefore, the requirements were prioritized and some of the use-cases which were initially envisioned for V1.0.0 were postponed to the follow-up project. This project shall make sure that these use cases and requirements find their way into the Standard.
Apart from that, additional requirements and use-cases came up while working on V1.0.0. Those have been considered as relevant but did not fit into the schedule for the first release. These topics as well shall be considered in this project.
Finally, this project shall include the feedback coming from first implementations of the Standard as well as from parallel activities in ISO and AUTOSAR which on their hand are driving activities to support ASAM SOVD. This way, we want to make sure that all standards are consistent with the ASAM Standard.
This project is scheduled for a rather long time. Intermediate versions are planned that cover parts of the feedback while new features are designed and developed in parallel.
ASAM SOVD (Service-Oriented Vehicle Diagnostics) defines an API for diagnosing and communicating with software-based vehicles. It is a flexible Standard that provides a uniform access to the diagnostic content of HPCs and their related applications, as well as classical ECUs.
ASAM SOVD allows Diagnostics on a vehicle in a workshop (proximity), via remote access (remote) or directly in the vehicle (in-vehicle). It works on a service-oriented basis: A service-oriented query enables the determination of precisely the information needed. This means that the preprocessing is already taken care of by the SOVD server.
This project is the follow-up project to ASAM SOVD V1.0.0 which is to be released in Jul 2022.
