ASAM exhibiting at JSAE Automotive Engineering Exposition

Hoehenkirchen, March 13, 2015 - Easily integrate tools into your tool chain; Guarantee a smooth running distributed development by exchanging data seamlessly; Realize economies of scale by turning customized single client solutions into commercial off-the-shelf tools – these are some of the benefits that Automotive companies gain when building on ASAM standards.

For more than 15 years, European car manufacturers and tool vendors have jointly developed standards in the areas of MeasurementCalibration, Diagnostics, ECU Networks, Software Development, Test Automation, and Data Management & Analysis. The goal is to guarantee interoperability of tools from different vendors, to allow data exchange without the need for converters, and to facilitate the exchange of unambiguous Specification between customers and suppliers.

ASAM Connects:

Unique about the ASAM association is the fact that OEMs and tool vendors develop standards together to the benefit of both. This approach guarantees that the standards are not only accepted but also implemented in many tools.

The standards developed in this environment have first been used in global operating companies and then gradually found their way into the different regions:

  • US companies have been using ASAM standards for several years and just recently released the first locally developed standard.
  • In Japan, OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers and tool vendors collaborated for the past two years in the JAIG initiative (Japanese ASAM Interest Group) to evaluate the applicability of ASAM standards for their purposes. 4 Japanese OEMs, 2 Tier-1 suppliers and several tool vendors have joined the ASAM association in recent years. More companies are expected to follow.

ASAM – Standardized Solutions:

ASAM Standards secure your investments in tools and processes for the long term. They are vendor- and technology-independent which keeps system components of different origin interchangeable and decouples them from the continuous advances of IT platforms.

Quality - Driven by ASAM Standards

ASAM standards are developed by industry experts and represent industry best practices. They cover specific use-cases thus making sure that they meet market requirements. Today, 100% of all new platforms at AUDI, BMW, Daimler, MAN, Porsche and Volkswagen are using ASAM Diagnostics; More than 80% of all cars worldwide are calibrated with ASAM standards; and ASAM test data management solutions are used by many global OEMs.
