ASAM OpenLABEL is the first Standard to annotate multi-sensor data and scenarios. The Standard defines a Data Model and data format to Label multi-sensor data and to tag scenarios. There are many fields of application for ASAM OpenLABEL. However, currently there is a focus on the development and Validation of driver assistance systems and automated driving functions.

BMW AG has already contributed an ALKS scenario interpretation based on ASAM OpenSCENARIO® and ASAM OpenDRIVE®.

ASAM e.V., an international standardization organization in automotive electronics announces important personnel changes with the beginning of the second quarter of 2021. Board of Directors: Dr. René Grosspietsch (BMW AG) was elected to the ASAM Board of Directors at this year's General Meeting. He replaces Richard Vreeland (Cummins Inc), who did not run again. All other board members retain their positions. Prof. Marcus Rieker (Horiba Europe GmbH) was confirmed as Chairman of the Board. Management: Since 01.04.2021, Peter Voss is the new Managing Director of ASAM e.V. He takes over this task from Dr. Klaus Estenfeld, who will pursue other responsibilities within ASAM.

ASAM e.V. (Association for Standardization of Automation and Measuring Systems) announces the release of the first Standard that has been completely developed outside of Europe: ASAM HMS (HEX File Management System) was developed in Japan by automotive heavyweights such as Toyota, Honda and Hino and their suppliers. This proves that ASAM is gaining in importance and influence internationally. ASAM HMS describes an interface to associate Metadata to so-called HEX files that are used for the development and test of complex and interconnected Electronic Control Units (ECUs). It is particularly relevant for the development of highly automated and autonomous driving functions.

Prostep ivip Association and ASAM e.V. (Association for Standardization of Automation and Measuring Systems) signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the field of Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Purpose of the cooperation is to harmonize requirements and applications of standards and norms from both sides, thus facilitating modeling and Simulation for autonomous driving of level 4 and 5.

After only one year of intensive project work, ASAM (Association for Standardization of Automation and Measuring Systems) has now released ASAM OpenDRIVE V1.6.0© and ASAM OpenSCENARIO© V1.0.0 The three complementary standards OpenDRIVE (description of road network), OpenCRG (description of road surface), and OpenSCENARIO (description of dynamic content) were handed over to ASAM at the end of 2018, the project work began in 2019. The newly released versions contain significant improvements and can be downloaded from the ASAM website free of charge.

Tool vendors from Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Greece and India tested their servers and clients for interconnectivity and compatibility with ASAM ODS. The test confirmed that nearly all clients and servers could be connected. The client server connection was tested with both, the new HTTP API and the traditional CORBA API.
