ASAM standards become smart: Capturing expert knowledge

This year, ASAM has released two completely new standards. These standards, ASAM CPX and ASAM MCD-2 CERP, provide the foundation of a new class of tools commonly known as “Calibration Expert Systems”. They help to capture expert knowledge applied in the ECU Calibration process.

ASAM CPX provides a common language and exchange format that formally describes Calibration processes. ASAM MCD-2 CERP expresses plausibility and parameter dependency rules, which can be executed during the Calibration process to ensure their adherence. Thus, expert systems help to manage the increasing complexity of ECU development. They have the potential to shorten the development time, improve Calibration quality, and reduce the costs of ECU development. ASAM tool vendors have started to develop tools based on these new standards.
