The ASAM ODS Crosstest 2024 confirmed the high quality of the ASAM ODS Standard and its implementations. At the event in Aachen, 23 participants from 9 companies and 4 countries tested the conformity of client applications and servers in real-world scenarios. Through on-site collaboration, valuable insights were gained for the further development of the Standard.
Hoehenkirchen, GERMANY – November 28, 2024 – On November 4th and 5th, 2024, ASAM e.V. hosted the ASAM ODS crosstest once again. The event took place at the Aachen branch of Peak Solution. 23 participants from 9 companies and 4 countries attended to test ASAM ODS client applications against ASAM ODS servers as well as ATFX files with NVH data for compliance with the ASAM ODS Standard.
The ASAM ODS crosstest provides a unique platform for companies to test and optimize their software in real-world scenarios. Participants work closely together to identify differences in data formats, resolve interpretation issues, and discuss potential ambiguities in the Specification of the Standard. These valuable insights directly contribute to the ongoing development of the Standard.
On the first day, the network was set up, and all servers were successfully deployed. By the end of the day, all clients were able to connect to all servers. The tests uniformly used the ASAM ODS HTTP interface, with participants running scenarios such as opening sessions, reading context variables, browsing test hierarchies, reading Data Model including the n to m relations, performing simple and nested queries, reading attributes and mass data incl. quantity and unit references, writing new instances and mass data as well as handling external fields (AoFile).
On the second day, predefined test scenarios were executed in teams consisting of at least one representative from both the client and server manufacturers, with results documented.
The collaboration on-site allowed for the immediate resolution of most issues with the developers present. It became clear that both the quality of the Standard and the implementations had significantly improved, as compared to the 2022 crosstest, with considerably fewer ambiguities or implementation errors. The majority of test scenarios were successfully completed for all clients and servers.
Remaining issues were promptly logged in the ASAM ODS working group repository to be addressed in future versions of the Standard. The documentation of results will assist manufacturers in verifying improvements at the next crosstest.
The ASAM ODS crosstest 2024 emphasizes the importance of standardization and collaboration in the automotive and mobility industries. Events like this strengthen cooperation between companies and support the continuous development of standards to address future challenges.
