Passenger safety has always been an essential part of the development process of any vehicle. As technology advances and the automotive industry moves toward more and more autonomous features, many safety issues arise that need to be addressed at various stages of development. The need for safe systems, and therefore safe vehicles, requires standards such as ISO 26262 and ISO 21448. This paper proposes an integrated approach for effectively combining both standards throughout the development cycle for safe and cost-effective systems.
