Open Standards as a Leverage for the Development of Automated Driving

It is commonly understood that the challenging tasks of developing, testing and validating automated driving functions require an intensive usage of Simulation. As test scenarios increase in quantity and complexity, scenario databases turn into a big asset and should ideally be reusable between different tools over long time periodslong time periods. This can be ensured by using open standards. Besides, open standards and open source tools can help OEMs and suppliers to focus on what really matters to them - the system under test, not the input data for Simulation tools. In this contribution, these benefits are showcased by using ASAM's OpenX standards within the vehicle and environment Simulation DYNA4 together with DYNA4's interfaces to the open source tools SUMO and ROS.
