The development and Validation of driving functions for ADAS and automated driving entails greater difficulties compared to conventional systems as they require consideration in a complex environment. New demands on test and Validation processes arise which can be met with Simulation solutions in the development process due to reproducible scenarios.

The relevant scenarios must be defined and implemented in virtual test driving using one of the following options.

  1. Virtual generation
  2. Import from map or measurement data, ADASRP
  3. Transfer of real scenarios into the virtual world

The scenario-based approach increases the functional safety as well as savings in cost and time. Driving functions can thus be experienced without real prototypes in the context of the whole vehicle and with consideration of the environment.
