Automotive electronic control technology advancement is critical in the drive toward autonomous driving. To achieve functional safety needed to meet ISO 26262 requirements, significant improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency of design and Verification is needed. Advanced test environments applying virtual ECUs are expected to be an effective solution. This presentation introduces challenges of autonomous driving and recent best preactice examples of test environments applying virtual ECUs at Hitachi. In addition, the cooperation “Japan Virtual Microcontroller Initiative  vECU-MBD Working Group” is introduced.
