The development of new vehicles with various mechanical and electronic equipment levels usually results in a high amount of variants. This is associated with a high development effort as well as increased requirements to fulfil the necessary testing depths. In order to completely support the vehicle development from early design decisions until final Validation of certain components and systems an integrated Simulation workflow is beneficial. Thus, to reduce the development costs, such a tool chain needs to be entirely virtual, relying as little as possible (ideally not at all) on real prototype hardware.
This presentation shows the development and application of a (nearly) seamless Simulation tool chain for the Driving Performance and NVH related development and Validation for passenger vehicles. The tool chain covers the Simulation tool setup for basic mechanical parts / systems development of the vehicle chassis up to highly integrated control systems.
