The volume of data generated during Simulation, research and test is continuously increasing driven by increasing sensor count and sampling rates. Videos, images, Simulation models, documentations and other adding further variety to the so far well understood Measurement data. But even traditional Measurement data is now complemented by camera, radar and lidar data streams together with GPS information, all to be connected via different technologies such as CAN, LIN, CAN-FD, FlexRay, MOST and Ethernet to finally reach the ECUs.

In addition, offsite or on-road tests and measurements, connected cars (telemetry), and other operations outside the organization require additional infrastructure such as cloud services for caching and post-processing as well as ways to integrate the data back into the organization’s IT infrastructure.

For ASAM ODS this can be an opportunity to provide interfaces and serialization types to cope with these challenges by providing an open solution stack integrating available tools and technologies. This presentation outlines a possible vision for the future of ASAM ODS in the scope of Big Data and explains why a group of experts from specific domains is needed to eventually reach it.
