The automotive industry is rapidly evolving with vehicles becoming increasingly complex and software-driven. This shift brings significant advantages such as enhanced functionality and connectivity but also introduces new challenges in both vehicle development and maintenance. These challenges become especially apparent during a vehicle’s operational phase, where reliable and secure software updates and Diagnostics are essential. To address these issues, both ASAM and eSync offer solutions that enable over-the-air (OTA) software updates and Diagnostics.
ASAM SOVD (service-oriented vehicle Diagnostics) and the eSync platform provide complementary approaches that enable secure remote access to vehicles. Together, they offer a powerful framework for managing OTA updates and performing Diagnostics across increasingly complex architectures. This whitepaper is the first of two planned papers that explore the integration of ASAM SOVD with the eSync platform, highlighting the supported mechanisms and use cases. The second whitepaper will focus on use cases and is planned to be published by end of 2025.
This whitepaper is the result of joint work by ASAM and eSync Alliance to show how OTA updates can be improved by combining ASAM SOVD with eSync Alliance. If you would like to learn more about the topic, please contact us.
