In 2018 ASAM adopted the so-called OpenX standards (ASAM OpenCRG, ASAM OpenDRIVE and ASAM OpenSCENARIO). Since then, these standards have been continuously further developed. In addition, areas were identified that require standards for a simple and consistent workflow. For this purpose, the standards ASAM OpenLABEL (Metadata), ASAM OSI (interface), ASAM OpenODD (operational design domain) and ASAM OpenXOntolgy (a common ontology for all ASAM OpenX standards) have been initiated so far.

Scenario Based Testing Workflow

While this means that many pieces of the puzzle when it comes to standardized scenario-based testing workflows are being tackled across ASAM, the overall interplay between those pieces, as well as the classical testing and test automation standards (like OTXXIL/XIL-MA) are left somewhat undefined.

This study project shall examine the relevant test techniques and use cases for testing and Homologation of the ADAS/AD domain. Our goal is to identify relevant standards, potential workflows and their variants, and the overall interplay between these parts to form a cohesive whole. This analysis will lead to a documented set of overall use cases for testing and Homologation, a set of potential workflows implementing these, together with an overview of relevant users, standards and their application.

Additionally, the project shall identify gaps in the workflows, leading to the identification of potentially needed additions to existing standards, liaisons between standards, or completely new standards. Recommendations for these standards or additions shall be collected and documented. The goal is to define a valid basis for follow-up activities and projects

Key Aspects of the project:

  • Overview of test methods in the field of ADAS/AD
  • Test strategy blueprint
  • Detailed use cases for the implementation of a test strategy
  • Alignment with current standardizations
  • Development of proposals for further standardization
