Technological University of the Shannon
Dr. Flaithrí Neff is an academic and startup CTO in the areas of intelligent systems and industrial IoT, with a keen interest in integrating ASAM standards for automated and connected vehicle ecosystems - especially in off-road and work-site environments. He is Head of Delegation for Ireland under NSAI in several ISO and CEN standardisation committees, contributing to domains including acoustic AI, intelligent transport systems (ITS), and Internet of Media Things.
His research at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) spans Edge-to-Cloud sensing, context-aware AI, federated machine learning, and real-time system modelling. He leads projects including Epona AI Labs, which develops plug-and-play acoustic AI for industrial machines, and AutoPAM, a nationally funded research project developing perception-aware models for autonomous machines in complex work-site environments.
Dr. Neff is actively involved in European collaborative research, especially those pertaining to open research data initiatives, such as EUDAT, EOSC, and EuroHPC. His contributions support the integration of acoustic intelligence, scenario modelling, and standardised data exchange in digital twins and testbeds for future vehicular machine-systems.
