Typhoon HIL, Inc.

Tool Vendor / Service Provider

Typhoon HIL is a pure play HIL solution provider and market and technology leader in the field of ultra-high-fidelity Controller Hardware in the Loop (C-HIL) simulation for, electric vehicles, E-Mobility, electric vehicle stationary equipment (EVSE), power electronics converters, drives, automotive, aerospace, as well as terrestrial and marine microgrids and distribution networks. Typhoon’s offering encompasses software, hardware (real-time devices, interfaces accessories), and engineering services for C-HIL, but also XIL and Power HIL (P-HIL) applications.

Our HIL solution simulates electric drives, DC/DC converters, chargers, power converters, and other E-Mobility systems with time steps as low as 200 ns and at 3.5 ns digital oversampling, supports the ASAM XIL standard, and can also be integrated with existing hardware setups from dSPACE, ETAS, NI, and many other. Our HIL solutions can also seamlessly interface with other test automation solutions (e.g. ECUTest, AutomationDesk), import models directly from: Matlab-Simulink, JMAG finite element analysis software for electric motor design, and we support the FMI/FMU model standard.

The company was founded in 2008 and the company’s model-based engineering tools offer a unique user experience of an integrated solution free of third-party software dependencies and hardware complexities. We stand behind our seamlessly integrated technology stack, from application specific FPGA processors and ultra-robust numerical solver all the way to the Schematic Editor, SCADA system, and TyphoonTest IDE test automation and data analysis capabilities. We believe this is the complete technology stack that empowers our customers to continuously exceed their controller software quality, performance, and time-to-market goals.

Typhoon HIL Control Center (THCC)
Type
Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation software
Functionalities
THCC is a freemium Python-based vertically-integrated model-based engineering toolchain created for C-HIL simulation and testing. Its main parts are the Schematic Editor, HIL SCADA, and TyphoonTest IDE. These tools together enable the drawing of models, parametrization of components, definition of inputs and mapping of interfaces, interactions with your model, as well as writing scripts for test automation and data analyses. It can also seamlessly interface with many other software solutions, including Matlab Simulink, JMAG-RT, Xyce, ECUTest, AutomationDesk, etc. The toolchain can be downloaded for free at https://www.typhoon-hil.com/products/software-download. Additional features can be explored at https://www.typhoon-hil.com/products/additional-software-features.

HIL404
Type
Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulator
Functionalities
The HIL404 real-time simulator is Typhoon’s first 4th generation device. It’s tailored for automotive drives with the most detailed inverter models, spatial-harmonic electric motor models, CAN connectivity, and plug and play interface towards 3rd party test automation tools. It can go down to 200 ns time-step, 200ns Analog Output update rate, 3.5ns GDS oversampling on all Digital Inputs, with paralleling capability for up to 4 units. With 4 processing cores, it can support real-time emulation of non-linear machines with spatial harmonics and semiconductor power losses, and offers the most accurate Dual-Active Bridge (DAB) converter model and JMAG-RT FEM electric machine model import. Broad range of connectivity options is also supported, including USB3.0, Ethernet, Gb/s serial link, JTAG, and General Purpose IO (GPIO).
