Most imc data acquisition systems can be equipped with CAN and CAN-FD interface modules. Each module usually has 2 CAN nodes on DSUB-9. They perform embedded complex protocol decoding tasks, even in standalone applications without any PC. Such functions include support for multiple high-level protocols such as CCP, XCP and UDS. The respective file exchange standards like A2L and DBC can be handled using the operating software imc STUDIO. Additionally, the modules can log the complete bus traffic and optionally embed the decoding information ("frame description blob"). This enables very easy application of subsequent "imc STUDIO BusDecoder" processing concepts. Such encapsulation avoids any inconsistencies between log files and the respective decoding information, while still allowing to use a differing decoding file if necessary. Decoding can be performed live during the measurement by the PC using imc STUDIO, or offline using FAMOS.

BusDecoder

The BusDecoder is a component of the test operation software imc STUDIO. It can decode field-bus log channels live during acquisition, even for hundreds of channels. This reduces the processing load in the device for channels that don't need to be used for real-time control or triggering, while still providing a live view of data to the operator.

MDF4 Explorer Preview

The MDF4 Explorer Preview comes with the FAMOS data analysis software starting from version 2026, adding a preview handler to the Microsoft Windows Explorer. File information embedded in an MDF4 can be viewed within less than 1 s without opening any software, like a jpg file can be previewed. Included starting in the free-of-charge FAMOS Reader.

FAMOS is a software for AI-assisted analyzing of test & measurement data. Its focus is on interactive reviewing, processing and reporting, with the possibility to go very much into detail for creating sophisticated analysis scripts, semi-automated dashboards, auto-generate PowerPoint report files with thousands of slides and provide libraries of customized algorithms across departments or company sites. 100+ file formats are supported, including ATFX, Parquet, MDF4 and CSV to be used with time-domain data, frequency-domain data, field-bus logs or videos. An ODS interface is included, as well as the possibility to call FAMOS from the command line or from web interfaces of ODS servers, and the functionality can be extended by custom DLLs or Python scripts. A free-of-charge version for pure data viewing is available ("FAMOS Reader") and the full version is available free of charge for academic use.
