Combining the reference-line-based ASAM OpenDRIVE with OGC's CityGML represents a transformative approach to road space modeling for advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving.
While ASAM OpenDRIVE is effective for road descriptions, it encounters challenges when dealing with complexity and detailed environmental data. Conversely, CityGML excels in 3D city modeling, offering rich semantic and geometric data, but it lacks detailed road logic.
In July, ASAM has hosted an ideation workshop to discuss the first ideas for an ideation project. In the following we have adapted and improved the proposal according to the results from the workshop (review ideation workshop ). In this proposal workshop, we aim to refine the project's scope, outline the project timeline, identify key milestones, and discuss the overall structure of the work packages.
