Proposal Workshop: ODS Big-Data Ecosystem
Jan. 19, 2018, The Squaire, Airport Frankfurt, Germany
ASAM is hosting a proposal workshop with the goal to come to a joint agreement on the specific content of the upcoming ASAM standardization project " Big-Data Ecosystem" introducing Big-Data technologies for ODS-based data management systems. ODS
The technical foundations for the proposal has already been worked out in the concept project P2015-08 " Big-Data Technologies". Members can download the paper ODShere. According to the concept, the existing -based architecture shall be amended with a scalable Big-Data ecosystem. The ODS server remains the master for meta-data. The Big-Data system handles the storage and processing of mass-data. Both systems are linked via standardized interfaces. Proposed are the following standardization activities: ODS
- Standardized meta-data format (json) for indexing.
- Standardized library access to mass-data.
- Standardized processing interfaces for high performance scalable data analytics, including processing services and security services.
The concept includes the main requirement that implementers have the freedom to choose popular open-source technologies such as Hadoop, Solr, OrientDB, Avro, Parquet and others. It is expected that parts of the ODS must be extended as well, for instance authentication/authorization, the standard- HTTP, etc. API
Dr. Kai Pinnow (ETAS GmbH) will present a summary of the proposal from this concept project. In the subsequent open discussion, moderated by the ASAM office, we will try to reach an as broad as possible agreement among ASAM members on the list of items that shall be standardized, the standardization approach, critical requirements to be met and the expected content of the . In the aftermath of the workshop, a project proposal will be created and submitted to ASAM. standard
You will have an opportunity to influence the upcoming from the onset through participating in this workshop. Upon request, ASAM makes a presentation slot available for you, where you can present your company's positions toward the proposal, amendments, additional requirements or experiences from existing projects.
