ASAM has hosted the ASAM General Assembly & Technical Seminar on June 13 - 14, 2018 in Hoehenkirchen, Germany.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of ASAM e.V., ASAM has given an overview on the past 20 years and a US member presented how ASAM standardization has developed in the different regions. Both, the General Assembly and the Technical Seminar gave an overview on current topics, latest releases and future activities.
As one major highlight, ASAM has announced the setup of a new standardization domain "Simulation" that will complement the ASAM standards portfolio in the near future. With this new domain, ASAM enters into the area of Highly Automated Driving. The first A public specification, which has been developed by experts in a defined consensus-driven development process and was released by officials that represent a significant share of the industry for which it is targeted, giving the specification the necessary legitimacy to be called a 'Standard'.Standard OpenDrive is to be transferred into ASAM soon. For that reason, we were very happy to welcome representatives of this new domain at both the General Assembly and the Technical Seminar. One of the members focusing on Is the process of imitation of the behavior of a modeled real-world system over time.Simulation has relady been elected into the new Technical Steering Committee (TSC) term 2018 - 2020.
And also beyond these news, the Technical Seminar offered members and non-members alike insights into significant standards updates, presenting an update and demonstration of software debugging over Universal Measurement and Calibration Protocol (ASAM Standard)XCP, new activities in the Measurement, Calibration and DiagnosticsMCD-3 area and Big Data Technologies for Open Data Services (ASAM Standard)ODS and international initiatives like SCDL (Safety Concept Description Language) and HEX File Management.
Three workshops in the afternoon session rounded up a successful day of discussons, conversations and networking.
