ASAM OpenSCENARIO defines the dynamic content of the world regarding the on-road driving domain, for example, behavior of traffic participants and how these are expected to interact with each other and the environment. Version 2.0.0 added definition of additional entities and capabilities to enable test scenario development.

This proposal is for a joint ASAM OpenSCENARIO 1.x and 2.x project and the first to follow ASAM’s roadmap for OpenSCENARIO (see the supplementary notes on ASAM OpenSCENARIO released together with V2.0.0, available here). The proposal suggests launching a minor project, which will focus on 4 vectors:

1. ASAM OpenSCENARIO 1.x development:
   Implement key additional features, clarifications and bugfixes from the OpenSCENARIO 1.2.0 open issues list. As the majority of new feature development is intended for the DSL (2.0.0 and greater) these features will focus on closing clear or urgent gaps in the standard.
2. ASAM OpenSCENARIO 2.x development:
   Fix errors and bugs reported for ASAM OpenSCENARIO 2.0.0 and cover features being introduced in item 1)
3. ASAM OpenSCENARIO migration:
   Improve and close gaps in the migration guidelines ASAM OpenSCENARIO 1.x--->2.0, reach the goal that ASAM OpenSCENARIO 2.x is a full superset of ASAM OpenSCENARIO 1.x.
4. The future of ASAM OpenSCENARIO:
   Design and plan the roadmap for future ASAM OpenSCENARIO projects
