B.7.2.1 Workflow short description

As a researcher developing new technology, I can reuse industry and open source scenarios to advance my research.

B.7.2.2 Workflow detailed description

Scenario repositories containing OpenSCENARIO 2.0 compliant scenarios are available.

Repository can be both industry-owned or open source. In the first case, you need to ask for access to the specific company owner, in the second case anyone can freely browse the repository.

The repositories shall be easy to explore and shall allow you to download the scenarios you’re interested in. You can then run the scenario on your own and compare your results with the expected ones from the scenario’s writer.

If the results are in line, you can go on and use the scenario for your research. If the results are not in line, you should get in touch with the writer to find out what is the problem, before using the scenario for your research.

B.7.2.4 Steps for re-utilizing scenarios for research

After having gotten access to the repository of interest and browsed it to find a scenario that is relevant for your work, you shall run it to ensure that the results you have correspond to the results the scenario creator had.

If this is not the case, you should contact the scenario owner to understand why the same scenario is leading to different results. You should not use the scenario in your research until this clarification has been done.

  1. OpenSCENARIO 2.0 scenario coming from a repository.
    You ge an initial scenario.

  2. Run the scenario locally to get results.
By the end of this step local results are available.

  3. Compare local results with scenario owner’s results.
Differences in the results become obvious.

  4. Check if the results match.

    1. If the results match, you can you the scenario for your research.

    2. If the results do not match, you should contact the scenario owner before using the scenario for your research.

Libraries that contain OpenSCENARIO 2.0 compliant scenarios are available for easy scenario reuse in your research.

The scenarios are already validated before being saved to the repositories. You shall run the scenario on your own to double check that your results match with the intended result before using the scenario for your research.
