The Open Simulation Interface (OSI) is a generic interface for the environmental perception of automated driving functions in virtual scenarios. It’s goal is to allow users to connect any sensor with a standardized interface to any automated driving function and to any driving simulator tooling. ASAM has created a new open source development process to further develop ASAM OSI

ASAM OSI Kick-off Workshop

Almost 100 experts have attended the ASAM OSI Kick-off workshop on Feb 21, 2020 (Detailed Report). Four work packages were identified to further develop OSI:

  • Physical sensor modelling (i.e. a better ground truth)
  • Traffic participants & roadside infrastructure
  • OSI performance and packaging (e.g. improvements for real time)
  • Harmonization with other OpenX standards.

Since the kick-off, we hosted 4 webexes to further discuss the content of these work packages and to define use cases:

  • WP1: Physical sensor modelling   Results
  • WP2: Traffic participants & roadside infrastructurg   Results
  • WP3: OSI performance and packaging   Results
  • WP4: Harmonization with other OpenX standards   Results

Next Steps

Right now, the project proposal is beeing written: https://code.asam.net/simulation/proposal/osi
