Project Detail ASAM OpenSCENARIO V1.x
This project is intended to further develop the ASAM OpenSCENARIO 1.0. OpenSCENARIO provides the standard, the data model and examples for the description of dynamic content in driving specification. OpenSCENARIO is used in driving simulation, traffic simulation, virtual development, test and simulation of driving assistance functions, automated and autonomous driving. validation
Within these use cases, OpenSCENARIO describes all entities acting on or interacting with the road. It does not describe the road network, road infrastructure or road surface. This content is complemented by the ASAM standards OpenDRIVE and OpenCRG. The consolidated content of the three standards provides comprehensive input for above-mentioned use-cases.
The goals of the proposed project incorporate the completion of tasks that could not be completed within the predecessor project, i.e. the ASAM OpenSCENARIO Transfer project, whose outcome is the release of ASAM OpenSCENARIO 1.0. Another goal of the proposed project is to provide support for users and implementers of OpenSCENARIO 1.0 and 1.x. Finally, close collaboration with the proposed ASAM OpenSCENARIO 2.0 project forms a goal of the proposed project. Result of this cooperation shall be an explicit migration path for ASAM OpenSCENARIO 1.x outcomes and developments to the next major release.
A first proposal workshop took place on Mar 25, 2020 (review). Three work packages have been identified that shall be further defined in separate online meetings. These meetings are open for participation (no membership required). Simply join the meeting:
The goal of these sessions will be:
- Continue detailing out and prioritising the list of features for the next versions of OpenSCENARIO 1.x. I am in the process of migrating the excel list we created in the workshop to the repository, I will share this before the meetings.
- Formulate a description for each of the work packages for the project proposal, this should include estimated work effort (man-days) as well as whether a service provider is needed, what for, and an estimate of the necessary work effort.
- Extend the current list of work packages with further requested work packages – this includes topics like alignment with migration path to 2.0, User Support, etc.
The rough timeline for the coming weeks (after the above online meetings) is as following:
We are still looking for a project lead for this project. Without one we will not be able to start it. Please get in touch if you are interested in maybe taking on this role! ASAP
