Goals

This project is a maintenance project and intended to fix ambiguities and errors in the released version of ASAM OpenDRIVE 1.6.0. OpenDRIVE comprises the Specification, style guide and scheme for the logical description of road networks. It is intended to be used for vehicle dynamics Simulation, traffic Simulation and sensor Simulation.

OpenDRIVE is used in virtual development, test and Validation of driving assistance functions, automated and autonomous driving. Within these use cases, OpenDRIVE files are describing road networks with respect to all data belonging to the road environment. They do not describe the entities acting on or interacting with the road. The open standards OpenSCENARIO and OpenCRG supplement OpenDRIVE's content concerning scenario description and road surface description. The consolidated content of the three standards provides comprehensive input for the use-cases mentioned above.
