On Oct. 26, 2016, ASAM members and interested non-members met in Novi, MI to learn about the latest activities within the global ASAM community. The speakers provided an overview of the projects currently under development in ASAM, demonstrated how ASAM standards influence the tool landscape, and discussed opportunities and challenges that affect the American automotive industry.

The ASAM XIL API is a generic simulator interface for the communication between test tools and test benches. It enables users to freely choose testing products according to their requirements and to decouple test-cases from real and virtual test systems. A cross test has been conducted in July 2016 at dSPACE in Paderborn to prove the interoperability of XIL-compliant tools from different vendors.

Dr. Klaus Estenfeld is following Mr. Preis as Managing Director of ASAM e.V. Mr. Preis who has headed ASAM for 8 years is leaving the association to pursue new professional challenges. Dr. Estenfeld who has a background in telematics and telecommunication will continue to advance the internationalization of ASAM and will additionally focus on strengthening the member relationship.
