The AV Test Fleet of the Future is Virtual

Autonomous vehicle testing is currently underway around the globe, from Silicon Valley, to Miami, to Singapore, racking up miles of test drives in order to gain real world experience. However, it is impossible for current test fleets to cover the rare and dangerous scenarios or extreme conditions (weather, traffic, hazards) that a self-driving car could possibly encounter.  Nor can on-road tests repeatedly test these situations to ensure a vehicle can properly handle them.  What’s more, current physical vehicle testing can’t validate at large scale—it’s limited and a costly endeavor.

Simulation has proven to be essential for safely testing and validated self-driving technology before it’s deployed on the road. This presentation will delve into existing Simulation challenges and why the industry needs a better solution to test and validate AVs than what has been previously available.  Learn how to build a unique virtual AV test fleet in the cloud, and utilize an open, scalable, bit accurate, hardware-in-the-loop solution that will allow the development and Validation of AVs without putting others on the road in harm’s way. This ultimately enables greater efficiency, cost-effectiveness and safety than what is physically possible to achieve with real world test drives.
