In order to improve vehicle safety, OEMs and suppliers develop driver assistant systems and automated driving functions. To ensure their functional safety, it is necessary to test these functions within the mandatory homologation and the Periodical Technical Inspection (PTI) in a significant sample of harmonized scenarios from one common platform.
This presentation shows the process of various data gathering methods for accident investigation (GIDAS; police recorded data) and Naturalistic Driving Studies (VUFO-NDS, FSD-NDS) towards a common digitalized scenario format. The resulting database delivers normal driving scenarios, critical situations and accident cases in the harmonized PCM v5 standard for developing and testing driver assistant systems and automated driving functions.
