Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) or automated driving functions consist of several parts like sensors, environmental model, maneuver planning and actuators. Among others, the development of an environmental model or data fusion for the desired driving function is highly time and cost intensive, especially if safety aspects need to be considered.
In this presentation, an overview of currently used and developed data fusion methods for automated driving is given. Additionally, potential cost-saving potentials are discussed in terms of standardization of sensor interfaces, data fusion algorithms and test methods.
