Telematics: Remote 2-Way Communication
ASAM Members and Non-Members primarily from the North American On-Road/Off-Road Commercial Vehicle Market met three times (so far) to discuss the need and requirements for standardization in the area broadly described as Telematics.
Significant discussions among Automotive OEMs, Tier-1s and Telematics Service Providers demonstrated the need for standards and the willingness for cooperation.
The goal for the first workshop held on March 31, 2016 in Detroit was to determine interest of OEMs and Tier-1s in gathering, aligning, and prioritizing use cases from in the area of remote 2-way communication. Read more
The goal for the second workshop held on June 14, 2016 in Minneapolis was to include the Telematics Service Providers, Engineering Consultancies, and the Tool Suppliers and focus on building both a Telematics Steering Committee and Proposal Workgroups. Read more
The goal of the 3rd Meeting (WebEx) held on July 13, 2016, was to secure the commitment of the participants and to focus on clarifying the next steps for a kick-off meeting. Read more
Two Use Case Kick-off Meetings have been conducted via WebEx:
- July 27, 2016: Kick-off-meeting "Use Cases for Cloud Interface"
- July 28, 2016: Kick-off-meeting "Use Cases for Security /Authentication"
