1. Introduction

ASAM calls for offers from its members to support the ASAM SCDL (Safety Concept Description Language) project group. The service provider shall fulfill the following tasks:

  1. English description from Japanese specification
  2. Interpreting service for meeting attendees

3. Project Overview

A group of twelve ASAM member companies is currently working on standardizing an SCDL (Safety Concept Description Language) around functional safety. The goal of SCDL is to define a notation method for safety related systems in the automotive field and to establish data compatibility for toolchain construction by defining a data exchange format. 

This project shall determine the following specifications in area of functional safety. 

  • Notation: a single notation of safety concept specification based on the context and semantics of ISO 26262.
  • XML format: Data form, node and attributes of the node for data exchange format based on the determined notation.


4. Service Provider Tasks

The ASAM project team is seeking a service provider to take over specific tasks within the stated goals of the project. The tasks consist of four steps, each requiring services and deliverables.


4.1. Tasks overview

The primary task is to provide language services for the project work packages. The service provider is responsible to carry out all necessary work to write an English version of the specifications.

The draft specifications are written by the project group members. Most of the content will be written in Japanese language. In this case, the service provider translates the content into English. The team members hold meetings after the translation, the service provider shall participate in these meetings and interpret between Japanese and English. 


4.2. Deliverables and Services

Step 1:

  • English description of the notation
  • Service of interpretations

Step 2:

  • English description of use cases around SCDL
  • Service of interpretations

Step 3:

  • English description of SCDL XML format
  • Service of interpretations

Step 4:

  • English description of remaining specifications which include glossary.
  • Service of interpretations


5. Qualifications

In order to be able to carry out the tasks, the service provider shall meet the following conditions:

  • Familiar in technical translation about functional safety
  • Knowledge about functional safety
  • Good command of the Japanese and English language


6. General Conditions

  • The offer shall itemize the costs for step 1, step 2, step 3 and step 4.
  • ASAM will initially order step 1 from the service provider.
  • Commissioning of step 2, step 3 and step 4 are contingent upon successful delivery of the deliverables of step 1.
  • Commissioning of step 2 is contingent upon the results of the project meetings.
  • The project duration is from June 2020 to December 2021.
