History of ASAM

1998
Association - ASAM e. V. was founded as an initiative of German car manufacturers.
The follow-up organization for all ASAM and STAUMECS activities was founded on Dec. 1st, 1998 in Stuttgart, Germany. At the foundation meeting, 26 companies joined the new association. The following five members of the Board of Directors were elected:
- Mr. Karl-Heinz Hönes (DaimlerChrysler AG; Chairman)
- Mr. Pölsler (Porsche AG)
- Dr. Langemack (Volkswagen AG)
- Mr. Jürgen Döring (rd electronic gmbh)
- Dr. Melder (GfS)

1999
The office of ASAM e. V. (registered association) locates to the Munich area. The new organization has been fully operational since early 1999.
Our fiftieth member joined ASAM e. V.: BMW AG, Volvo Technological Dev. Corp., Sweden, as well as General Motors Powertrain, USA and Robert Bosch GmbH.
ASAM established a cooperation with CAN-CiA.
A North American ASAM Work Group was established.
Hans-Georg Swolana is appointed as ASAM Business Manager.

2000
Our ninety-fifth member joins ASAM e. V.. DENSO Corporation, Japan, Renault SA, France and Ford Motor Company.
ISO standardization was started and our first certified products were launched.

2001
After the regular term of office of two years a routine election of the new Board of Directors took place at the membership meeting in December 2000. Since 1 January 2001 the board consists of:

Our hundred-twentieth joined ASAM. RENK Test System GmbH, Ono Sokki Customer Service Co, Ltd., Teradyne Diagnostic Solutions Ltd. joined ASAM as well.

Our hundred-thirty-fifth member joined ASAM. Siemens AG, Visu-IT! GmbH and Universität Stuttgart joined as well. Since 1 January 2003 the board consists of:

Our hundred-fifty-fifth member joined ASAM.ORME and HGL Dynamics Ltd. joined as well. Since 23 March 2005 the board consists of:
